Lake Powell Houseboating: Canine Style

Nothing says vacation like being with my family and friends, relaxing, having a bowl of fresh water, a few treats, and hanging by the lake. Well, I have told you before, I am not a water dog, so I am going to tell you about my little Cuz Rusty who LOVES all things water. That dude even loves to ride on the speed boat under the close supervision of his human and wearing his trusty, yet stylish, life jacket.

Rusty and his two brothers head out for a family house boat vacation every year for at least a week. Wow, that is one lucky pup. Many of the houseboats you can rent are dog-friendly, excluding the deluxe models. As long as you stay on a leash when you are off the boat and never be left unattended, it is smooth sailing with the boat patrol.

According to the Lake Powell website:
General Pet Policy: All Pets must be kept on a leash at all times when in public. Pets must never be left unattended. Guest must clean up after their own pets.
Houseboat Pet Policy: $10.00 per pet, per day fee charged and must be paid at time of boat pick-up. There is no limit as to how many pets.
Pets are not allowed on the 75' Odyssey, 75' Excursion, 62 journey.
Powerboat Pet Policy: Pets are allowed on the 19' Powerboats with no fee. Pets are allowed on the 36' Weekender. Pets are allowed on the 20' Ski Boats or 23' Centurians for a $10 non-refundable fee.

    Dog-friendly Tips

Tank had been posting about his adventures and recommendations for a many years now. As a senior dog his explorations grew limited. He also battled with Canine Cognative Disorder his last two years. I am saddened to announce Tank took his last walk just two months shy of his 15th birthday.

For those who are his fans, know that he was always spoiled and loved. His explorations with us are our fondest memories.

Make sure to browse Tank's extensive archives for tons of ideas to enjoy with your best
    friend.
