Not just because I think marshmallows are yummy, but also because there are so many fun activities you can actually do with these hunks of fluff. If you are stuck indoors for the day because of the cold, you can play a toss in the bucket game with the puffs. Set two buckets on opposite ends and take turns seeing how many each player can get in a bowl. If you are feeling crafty, then make snowmen with them by using straight pretzels to anchor them together and, of course, use lots of edible decorations to make the face. If you are hungry, you can get creative by making crazy big s'mores. Love these! Keep a few on hand for the next at-home day.
I absolutely love that a few fun companies have come out with Giant Marshmallows called Giant-roasters!

With the luxury of modern technology, now you do not have to go abroad to take a tour of the Louvre. Of course, it would be wonderful if you were able to visit in person, but if that is not possible, a virtual tour is a great alternative. On the main Louvre website, you can view a few of the beautiful exhibit rooms and Galleries including Egyptian antiquities, the remains of the Louvre's Moat, and the Galerie d'Apollon. Learn about how the Louvre was originally a fortress and how it came about becoming one of the greatest museums in the world. Make it an inclusive activity by enjoying some French Cuisine as you enjoy the view, without crowds, from the comfort of your home. Well, this certainly sounds posh, unless you understand, of course, that the "club" that I am speaking about is Sam's Club (or Cost-Co will do). If you have a membership, this is a fantastic date idea. You can go all out, if you are daring enough, by dressing up just like you are going on a fancy date or bring it down a notch with sweats. So, here is the great part about a date at the "club", they have free samples of food so you can have some hors d'oeuvres. Munch your way through the aisles and check out some of the dream items you would like to have someday. Make a fun dream list together. You don't have to buy a thing and, in fact, it might be fun to try and get out of there without a purchase. There is an awesome aisle of kitchen gadgets, some have furniture and decorations, and they also have fantastic prices on jewelry! The best time to go is on the weekend since the best samples are out then. If you are still hungry on your way out, stop by the fancy restaurant upfront for their $2 hotdog and a drink special. Living in Arizona, what could I possibly know about snow? We have a few places that snow in the state, but lets be realistic, I can technically still put on a pair of shorts and get a 70* winter tan out by the pool in December. My only childhood memories of snow include heading to Lake Tahoe for a holiday and being bundled up layer by layer and then of course having garbage bags taped all around me to keep me from getting wet. Yes, we actually use to do that since we had no real winter, waterproof clothing like they do today. So, I may not be the top resource for snow games, but I have now spent a bit more time in the snow and I always enjoy finding unique games. One game that can be played in the snow is a homemade bocce ball game. Take artificial food coloring and mix it with a bit of water. Put it in a spray bottle and make a ring in the snow. One on each side of the play field. Now, find 6 balls, any size depending on how big you want to make the circle. Split up the teams in two and try to land all three of your balls in the circle. The other team then tries to knock them out. Play to 21 points. How dense the snow is will determine the weight of the ball you use. Normal bocce balls can be a bit heavier, so consider the plastic air balls if it is too powdery. Another game you can play is called "Around the Court". The "Court" is any rectangle area that can include your street or even just around your property line. One person stands in the middle of the play area with their hands next to their face making a blinder. That way, they can only see what is directly in front of them. The middle person counts to 10 (or 20 depending on the length of the field that must be run) in one direction, and then turns clockwise, anyone they see in their vision they call out "Micky, I see you behind the tree". The purpose of the game is to get all the way around the play area without getting called out. You can hide behind things, bury yourself in the snow or find ways to camouflage yourself from the middle man. The game finishes when one person gets around the court or all players are spotted. The first person out is the next middle man. Do you have any creative games that you play in the snow? If so, please leave a comment for our other viewers. |
