I've planned for some time to start my author's page here on my website—a place to share writer's resources, announcements, and contests. The Kidlit Fall Writing Frenzy Contest 2019 seemed the perfect start.
For this contest, each writer was instructed to pick an image from the blog list. I chose the beautiful photo below, #3. Then write a poem, a mood piece, or a story while staying under 200 words. My word count is 127.
Feel free to click the button link below my story and check out all the entries. Cheer on some fellow writers, perhaps?
Happy Halloween, everyone.

The Isle of Sunflower by Lorraine Hawley
A morning sweet as candy corn, Lolly discovered enchanted cobwebs strewn across the yard. They whispered to her, leading from her home to the garden.
The cackling gossamer kept going and going until she found herself lost in a maze of sunflowers.
Weaving through stems, and over thick leaves, she slid on trails of orange sunlight.
She played among spiders and raven, darting through the spirit-filled land.
Deep. Deep, she crept into the dense, witchy green—not a graveyard to be seen.
The ill winds howled. Flowers bowed.
Is this a game of Trick or Treat?
The hours ticked down, with each deadly turn. Lolly feared her way lost in the night.
The sun then bent and offered its sight—a charmed light on All Hallows' Eve.
