Halloween Dog Park Parade & Events

Dog-friendly parks have been popping up all over the US.  From parks with water features, to obstacle courses, and even extensive walking trails. I will be exploring a lot of them and giving my brethren my feedback, but since Halloween is coming soon, I wanted to find one that had a Halloween activity that included dogs.

One of the dog parks I would love to visit is in New York. Tompkins Square Dog Run often makes the list for top 10 because it has a surface of crushed stone (also known as sand) and three swimming pools.  There are picnic tables so the family can join us and after we are done playing there are bath areas and hoses that you can use to spray off your pet. Ya... that bathing thing sounds no fun to me!

What does sound like a lot of fun is their
23rd annual dog parade on Oct 26th, 2013 at noon. This fundraiser, the Halloween party, is the big event to raise the money needed to maintain the run. In previous years, the attendance was more then 400 dogs. Sounds like the biggest dog Halloween party to me! Now I just have to plan my costume that will play up my adorable side. I hear they have some neat prizes.

Other Halloween events for dogs:

13th annual Haute Dog Howl'oween Parade  (Oct. 27)  Marina Vista Park, Long Beach, Calif.

Petsmart's Online Halloween Cute Monster Photo Contest with lots of great prizes!

Spooky Pooch Parade at Chicago Botanical Garden (Oct. 19) – Glencoe, Ill.

Photo:  Genghis is a 32 lbs. French Bulldog.  According to his human "He enjoys football, frisbee, and taking long naps. He loves all kinds of treats,  he even likes kale!  He occasionally goes out in the yard and picks the low hanging pears off the trees and eats them. He is a character."  We agree and also think he is absolutely adorable!

    Dog-friendly Tips

Tank had been posting about his adventures and recommendations for a many years now. As a senior dog his explorations grew limited. He also battled with Canine Cognative Disorder his last two years. I am saddened to announce Tank took his last walk just two months shy of his 15th birthday.

For those who are his fans, know that he was always spoiled and loved. His explorations with us are our fondest memories.

Make sure to browse Tank's extensive archives for tons of ideas to enjoy with your best
    friend.
