Roller-coasters were first invented in 1400 and are thought to have descended from Russian winter sled rides that were called "The Russian Mountains".  With steep turns, inversions, tunnels, and even water-coasters, people flock to the latest and greatest roller-coasters around the world. How about ThemeTripping your vacation around exploring ,of course, riding some of the biggest and baddest roller-coasters around.

Oldest Roller-coaster: Leap-The-Dips is the world's oldest operating wooden roller-coaster at Lakemont Park.

One of the scariest: Batman the Ride in Six Flags Illinois. With vertical loops, hairpin turns, corkscrew, and a zero-G roll while riding backwards, this one is not for the feint of heart.

World's highest inversion:  The GateKeeper in Cedar Point. The inversion, at a recorded 180 feet, also includes the highest drop as well as the longest track.

Fastest: Formula Rossa POV in Abu Dhabi where you can "feel the acceleration of 240km/h in under 5 seconds and discover what 4.8Gs really feels like."  according to the Ferrariworld abudhabi website.

Most inversions: The Smiler at Alton Towers in the U.K. has a stunning 14 loops!

Water Roller-coaster: Vanishing Roller-coaster in Japan at Cosmoland. It actually dives underwater into a tunnel.
