Coconut aminos- Take the place of soy sauce and sodium products. Taste just like soy sauce but made from coconut trees and have no sodium in them.
Quinoa- An ancient and healthy carbohydrate that replaces rices, pastas, and breads. Hint: if cooking it yourself, cook it in veggie or meat stock instead of water.
Chia seeds- a grain that can be used to make tapioca pudding, can be put on yogurt, can be used in cookies... Use your imagination. They are a great source of protein with little flavor and add crunch to your food. Easy to take of your trip.
Coconut water- Can replace sodas and sugary juices. It is nature's Gatorade with natural electrolytes.
Coconut oil- Obviously coconuts in all forms are healthy options... This miracle fruit also has been made into an oil that does not change to a trans-fat at high temperatures (unlike olive oil) and is very good for your skin and body. Substitute this oil when you are cooking with oil or baking.
Almond flour- Made entirely from ground almonds and is a healthy alternative to flour. Gluten free and much sweeter than regular flour, it requires less sugary additives when baking. Look up recipes using almond flour when you get in a baking mood for your trip or dinner party.
