A few weeks ago, my inbox pinged with an idea from one of our readers asking us to tour one of our local Dairy farms, (Yes, we read them all, some we can do right away, while others take a bit more planning). I thought, "wow, what a great idea" and I promptly began to scope out this gem of recommendation for us.
What we found was that there are many different types of working dairies around the country and each offers its very own, unique experience. Some are more interactive than others, so you would get a lot out of visiting different ones as opposed to just sticking to one. Some dairies have tours, petting zoos, restaurants, picnic areas, hay rides around the dairy, and a few are even hands on. I have found a few across the country such as Dakin Dairy Farms and Shamrock Farms that do tours, but there are many more, so explore to your hearts content.
